This story has captured my heart. It's a tale about a young man due to his parents upbringing, he's rather socially inept. He somehow meets a young woman who has taken it upon herself to guild him into the real world. The story is full of heart and is amazing tale of two young lovers trying to discover their lives. I recommend this book!
I received a copy of Lead Me From Solitude and it was lost in my endless TBR list, and so it was not till the end of the year, when I was cleaning up the books to finish, that I found this little gem. I love stories with couples that are very unusual couples with men that are recluses. Jacob Riley is one young man that has lived a lonely existence with his abusive father whom has brainwashed him from an early age and he has been denied any sort of pleasure, and taught to believe that he is pure evil. When fate steps in and brings Jacob a divine creature named Sally Baker who is a police officer and recognizes that Jacob needs her and that she has found the missing link in her life. Jacob needed her, and she thrived on being needed. Come what may, they would be linked forever.
The story doesn’t come without many obstacles, and Sally must find a way to overcome all of Jacob’s issues. How do you break a lifetime’s brainwashing? The retched life he was leading was “normal” to him, “I don’t want to traumatize him any more.”
“I’m sorry, you have expectations of me. I have never seen a girl before. I don’t know how I should be. Everything I have been told taught me to avoid touch, that feeling pleasure was wrong. I want to believe you, but…it is difficult for me…”
Sally’s gaze was a mixture of a mother hen watching protectively over her offspring and a woman completely head over heels in love with her man. Could they find a way? His old life was gone; she had found him, had rescued him and given him a chance of a better life. She had given him hope and he thought she was his guardian angel, but there are always problems in life and nothing is easy.
I really enjoyed reading this story, and if I have one complaint it is that it ends on a horrible cliffhanger. Luckily Book 2 is out and is titled Ghosts of the Past (Solitude Book 2) and will be reading this soon.
From beginning to end, I actually felt I was in the story. Superb character development, and I genuinely cared for them. It kept me wanting more and I can't wait for book 2
